We receive many questions about the site and these counters. To help answer them, we setup this section of our site to answer the most popular questions.
Can I create my own counters? Sure you can! Just sign up and begin creating your counter. A simple step-by-step process walks you through the process of creating your counter. Once you have created your counter, send it to all of your friends so they can see your handiwork!
Can I place these counters on my website? Of course! Just locate a counter you want. Click the link to place the counter on your website. It will then generate the html code you need to put it on your site. Just cut and paste the code into your favorite web editor.
I don't understand how to cut and paste the counters into my website. Can you help me? Unfortunately we are unable to provide assistance due to limited resources. I would suggest getting a book or taking a course in website design. You can also find many online tutorials to help you.
Are you sure that your counters are accurate? I don't agree with some of them. They are as accurate as the person who creates them. We have no control over the counters that are created by visitors to this site. Anyone can create a fictitious counter if they wanted to. The whole idea of this site was to have fun. The counters could very well be used to prove a serious point or would be whimsical in nature.
Can I use these counters to count visitors to my website? No. These counters count using a steady rate of accumulation. A multiplier is used to calculate the value of the counter at any given time. These counters cannot count actualy events as they occur such as visitors going to a website. Are they any plans to enable the counters to count actual events? Perhaps. The counter is flexible enough that it could be used to count actual events using an external trigger. A start value with an accumulation of "0" can be passed to the counter which means an external program could use the counter to count actual events. We are currently working on many other web automation projects, so we see the possibility of these counters being used in other projects in the future. I don't understand Flash or how the counter works. Can you help me? No, unfortunately we don't have the resources to provide that level of assistance at this point in time. I would suggest purchasing a book or use a search engine to answer your questions. Also, there may be Flash courses available near you. I would suggest taking one. How did this website get started? The designer was looking for another project to expand his knowledge of flash and came upon the idea. He thought it would be useful as a web project and voila! VirtualCounters.com was born! This website is stupid. What a waste of time. So are you. Try contributing something useful to society for a change.
